Let me introduce myself. My name is Bert Frew. Along with my devoted feline friend Jeffery , I offer bed and breakfast accommodation in the beautiful Norfolk countryside.
I have been visiting this area as a pilgrim for more than 35 years of which 23 of those years I have lived here full time. I have experienced the peace and tranquillity, the spirituality, beauty and calm, a place to unwind and relax , a place to explore and discover, but most of all a place to enjoy.
We live in the little village of Houghton in the Dale or Houghton St. Giles as it is also known. We enjoy being very close to the historic pilgrimage village of Little Walsingham. Both the Anglican and Roman Catholic Shrines to Our Lady of Walsingham are very close by. In just a very short drive you will find the market town of Fakenham in one direction and the charming fishing town of Wells next the Sea in the other . Both are quite different and well worth visiting .From here you can access some very fine inland and coastal walks and the birdwatching is some of the best in the country. Lots of lovely villages with interesting churches and pubs and restaurants are near by and a day trip to the coastal town of Cromer and the beautiful city of Norwich are within an hours drive.
The accommodation is a large, comfortable twin bedded room . The bath/shower room is not en-suite but it is not shared so is private to you . The beds are adjustable beds and being very heavy are not able to put together to make a large double ! The room features a sitting area with television. It also has ample clothes storage and hot drink making facilities . There are no cooking facilities in the room . Guests are welcome to use my sitting room and spacious garden . There is ample car parking.
Cosy fireplace and comfortable sitting room for guests to enjoy.
Large comfortable private sitting area in the bedroom.
Best quality adjustable beds for maximum sleeping comfort . Down filled duvet and choice of down or fiber filled pillows.
Breakfast can be a simple continental or fully cooked . There is a huge choice and I will cater to your wants but I draw the line at kippers or black pudding! Not on the menu !!
I source my produce locally and use organic where possible and use many of the local artisan food providers!
I do not provide cooking facilities in the room nor do I encourage meals taken in the room. I am happy for guests to use my kitchen to warm up a take away and enjoy my dining room.
.
The tariff is £90.00 per room to include breakfast . There is no discount for single accommodation or not having breakfast. I am happy to do single night stays and will offer seven nights for the price of six for the winter months until April .
As you have read I share my space with my cat Jeffery ,therefore I cannot accommodate other animals as the trauma would not be worth it !!
I also do not consider my home to be child friendly so as much as I like children, I do not offer accommodation to persons under the age of 16 and only two persons at a time .
